Futurs is the only Spanish company specialized in the development of public-private collaboration initiatives in the field of health, with several projects at national and international level. Its field of action is the integrated management of healthcare services and healthcare partners, as well as the development of new organizational models that allow the rationalization of public system resources while ensuring service excellence.
STARTING POINT
B2B Management Services is the IT Division of the Ribera Salud Group. Created in 2015, B2B-MS was born with the mission to “Lead the digital transformation of the digital transformation of the healthcare services management model”, initially within the Group itself and by extension in its sector of activity.
Ribera Salud is positioned as the perfect ally for citizens, professionals and institutions that demand efficient, responsible and sustainable healthcare.
During the last half of 2014, and as part of the Group’s strategy to fully internalize IT services, it was decided to incorporate monitoring services to the catalog of services provided by our Operations team.
To this end, we defined a migration project for the existing monitoring platform, where the first milestone was the selection of the most suitable solution for our needs, which could fit our ITIL-based Service Model and above all the needs of our users, given the criticality of their hospital environments. At that time we had 552 agents with 3825 monitors and 2940 alerts.

PROJECT’S CHALLENGE
After one year of Pandora FMS implementation, the need arose to incorporate in two months the monitoring of a new hospital, an expansion of 556 agents with 2132 monitors and 1987 alerts.
The adversity of not having the tool ready on time would have meant not knowing the state of the infrastructure and, therefore, not having the certainty that the critical corporate applications in a hospital center, such as the HIS or the RIS, would provide uninterrupted service. On both occasions, the demanding deadlines were perfectly met.

Considerations regarding tool management:
Implementation and maintenance should be quick and easy, without the need for dedicated staff on a day-to-day basis.
Ease of adaptation to any monitoring need with simple script development.
Possibility of different management roles (Operator, Administrator).
Possibility of multi-client management, where a technician can be assigned to the monitoring administration of a specific client.
During the selection period we were evaluating Zabbix, Zenoss and above all Nagios, but we finally decided on Pandora FMS because it fit perfectly with our needs. We estimated a 20% reduction in service costs.
PANDORA FMS BENEFITS
CAU operators receive the alerts defined as critical by e-mail, and they are also continuously visualizing (we have a 24×7 service) the dashboard to have real-time control of the infrastructure status. After an alert is received, they execute the relevant escalation procedures and start working on its resolution.
The tool is also very useful in the day-to-day work of our level two technicians to obtain traffic information, disk occupations, memory consumption, device status, etc. as well as real-time reports to be able to perform predictive alerting tasks and anticipate problems.
The monitoring in Pandora FMS integrated 100% of the monitors of the previous tool.
Pandora FMS has pleasantly surprised us, and therefore we recommend it as a tool to be taken into account in the present and in the future of monitoring, since it keeps reinventing itself, hence also our high level of satisfaction with it.
Pandora FMS currently monitors the facilities of the University Hospital of La Ribera, the Vinalopo University Hospital and the Torrevieja University Hospital.
